Er - are you the Alistair who just got fired from this wonderful school ILBC for taking a fake sick leave? Still think this dump is wonderful with it ever changing cast of deadbeats who come in early and go home even earlier Yeah like you, I have lived in Yangon for several years and dumps like ILBC give Burma a bad rap and cheat the students.....

Hello. Teachurrrr here. I can't speak aboutwhat happened the year before since I was not here, yet my experience at ILBC has been very positive.I have worked at ILBC from May 26th 2011 until the present. I plan to sign on for another year as do most of the current teachers I believe. About ILBC, it is an IGCSE School, not a language academy, providing an English curriculum education for students from primary through secondary. I tea....

Having had a the worst experience of my teaching career at ILBC, I agree with other posters about it being a 'scam.' After all, what genuinely professional education entity would attempt to retain a percentage of a teacher's salary - this is a human rights violation - and tells you all you need to know about this hell hole. Teachurrr.... you must be one of the management cronies to waste so much time defending this dump when everyo....

Thanx for all the info. No wonder they have to call their employees in to write nice things on forums like these. They can't even get a credit card. Now I wonder if they needed an account with s a visa card in my name to facilitate laundering activities. I am reporting this to my bank and the FBI. They are the worst racist pigs I have ever worked for. My advice to teachers would be to run as far away from these crooks as they can. Money WILL be s....

Having just left Mandalay ILBC, I will tell you that Teacher --- is the HR Director for ILBC and he is a despicable dishonest person dillusional about his own integrity. He was entirely deceptive withholding crucial information prior to arrival. His promises were temporary after a couple months he stopped responding to emails or taking calls and stated he washed his hands of all foreign teachers because they complained too much. The lac....

    Teach my family scam

Offer was too good to be true. Raise a red flag if someone asks you teach their family as they are independent. A great offer was made, but it wasn't until they asked me to send $3000 to verify finances via Western Union as a Visa requirement that I figured it out. Justin: Thanks for the information. "Teach my family..." is one of the oldest online forms of ESL scams. Looking at your attachment, you are correct that it is "too good to be true" at $5,000 USD per month. Regarding send money, the old caveat I repeat over and over is NEVER send money to ANYONE for any reason unless you know them personally, especially via Western Union. I would also caution to NEVER send ID's or personal information (i.e ....

Paul: Not sure if you mean Negative form for grammar or the cultural ramifications of negative and affirmative responses. In relation to culture, check out this article: http://eslarticle.com/pub/articles/teaching/grammar/how-to-improve-your-grammar-and-punctuation-6143.htm In relation to negative form in grammar, I found this: When there is more than one auxiliary verb, we make negative forms by putting not after the first auxiliary verb. Total Learning Academy Job in Myanmar

I am enlisting the help of visitors for a job posting that has struck me as "odd" and a possible scam. It is for Total Learning Academy in Yangon but the email is hr@brainworksschool.com. You can see the position here: http://www.tesall.com/esl-tesol-jobs?id=58978 What strikes me as odd is 1. It claims that the school website (www.tlaschool.org) is under constructions but that doesn't seem to be the case. 2. The website www.brainworksschool....

I would not worry overly much because Footprints Recruiting is a very established recruiting company with a good reputation, similar to Teach Away. They are professional and thorough. Regarding going around a recruiter, I believe some of the places (such as the Republic of Georgia Education Ministry) sign agreement with recruiters because they don't want to be involved (or don't have the expertise/staff to recruit directly). And if you are a man- you will have a different experience than a woman. Footprints might be reputable, but this program in Georgia is relatively new and very flawed. East....
