Welcome to TESOL Planet!
I am Fidel A. Ramos, a well experienced and licensed international educator and speak English fluently in neutral accent. I have a strong desire to be a fulltime teacher in your reputable institution.
I am a graduate of Bachelor of Arts in English with honors and Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education major in English. Furthermore, I have completely taken Creative Methods in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) for 120-credit-hour. My teaching experience includes GAC-ACT, TOEFL, IELTS Speaking and Writing, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), English as a Foreign Language (EFL), Business Communications/English and Extensive Reading in China for fifteen years and previously, ten years in the Philippines. I am currently in the Philippines after teaching at The High School Attached to Northwest Normal University-Lanzhou City. I came home during the winter break last January 2020 and haven’t gone back to China due to the pandemic.
I have been a classroom teacher with some Team Leading tasks for more than twenty years. Through these experiences teaching locally and the International Baccalaureate (IB) education program, I firmly believe that I have acquired a strong foundation of experiences teaching the philosophies, essentials and core values of teaching ESL/EAL through interdisciplinary teaching, collaborative planning and vivid discussions with my colleagues to meet our curriculum objectives and help develop students holistically. During my stay at Jiangnan University and Hubei University of Technology, I was tasked to lead foreign teachers teaching under Lambton College Program (Canadian Program) by giving them emphasis and encouragement on how to teach ESL/EAL in a classroom setting by maintaining a positive learning environment, in a dynamic and educational way that give students wide-range opportunities to generate their own critical thinking and awareness about facts of life and to confidently respond to variety of issues handed to them using the English language as a medium.
In addition, as a team leader, I spearheaded the Exit Tests (like IELTS under Lambton College Program) which consist of Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing and Grammar for several years. I portrayed two roles at the same time when I was teaching under this program.
It is my great desire to be a part of your teaching team to continue my passion for teaching in the international setting and to share my ideas and experiences with my colleagues and learning from them at the same time.
Thank you very kindly and more power to you!
Very respectfully yours,
Fidel A. Ramos
